Mr. Brooks received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration
from the University of Arkansas in 1986. He received his law degree with
honors from University of Arkansas School of Law in 1989, where he served as an editor of the Arkansas Law Review.
Mr. Brooks began his legal career in private practice at the Taylor Law Firm
in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he worked for 25 years until his appointment to the federal bench. His practice focused on complex civil litigation in federal and state courts, including the areas of commercial litigation and medical malpractice.
On June 7, 2013, President Obama nominated Mr. Brooks to a seat on the
federal bench for the Western District of Arkansas. On March 5, 2014, he was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate, and received his Presidential commission on March 7, 2014. Judge Brooks manages a busy trial docket which is almost evenly split between criminal and civil cases.
Judge Brooks also serves on the adjunct faculty at the University of Arkansas School of Law where he teaches Trial Advocacy.
