Orin Kerr is the William G. Simon Professor at the University of California Berkeley Law School. He is the author of more than 75 articles, over half of which have been cited in judicial opinions. He is the author or co-author of several law school casebooks and a widely cited criminal procedure treatise. From 2013-19, Professor Kerr served on the Advisory Committee for the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure. He is a former law clerk to Justice Anthony M. Kennedy of the U.S. Supreme Court and to Judge Leonard I. Garth of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Before joining academia, he was a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice and a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Kerr received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University, a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, and his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School.
