Billy Roy Wilson was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 18, 1939, and was raised in the Forester/Waldron (Scott County ) area. He was Waldron High School Chess Champion (as a mere sophomore, mind you). He attended the University of Arkansas and Hendrix College, where he received a B.A. in 1962. He then attended Vanderbilt University and received his LLB in 1965. He was admitted to the Arkansas bar that same year.
From 1965 to October 1, 1993, Billy Roy Wilson was a Street lawyer, save and except three years, five months, twenty-two days and five hours in the United States Navy (‘66-’69), Vietnam Veteran (he was actually there).
From 1986 to the present, he is a Swamper at the Wye Mountain branch of the internationally famous Rasputin Mule Farm, headquartered in Waldron, Scott County, Arkansas.
The Honorable Billy Roy Wilson was appointed U.S. District Judge to the Eastern District of Arkansas in October 1993.
In December 1999, he joined the late Duross Fitzpatrick (Middle District of Georgia) in successfully requesting that the White House direct that the American flag be flown at half-mast on December 14, 1999 -- in honor of the 200th anniversary of the death of George Washington.
